Note: Each person's skin has a unique chemical makeup which reacts differently with metals used in jewelry. In the case of pieces made with gold or rhodium plating, eventually the plating will start to fade off. This is normal, however, how long that takes for each person is unique and dependent on their own skin's chemical makeup. For some people, this will happen more quickly and for others, much more slowly. Because plating is a thin layer of gold, silver, rhodium, etc. layered over a base metal, fading is eventually inevitable.

To best take care of your piece, and prevent the plating from fading sooner than later, make sure you store it away from direct contact with other jewelry and that you do not wear it while working out, swimming, or showering, and that they do not come into contact with lotions and perfumes.
