Description

THIS IS THE DOWNLOADABLE VERSION OF THE FOSDYKE TEDDY BEAR PATTERN FOR YOU TO PRINT AT HOME/WORK/PRINT SHOP ETC.

The Fosdyke Teddy Bear pattern makes a sweet traditional Barbara-Ann Bear about 14 inches (35cm) tall.

We've used this pattern to make bears in a variety of mohairs ranging from 3mm vintage mohair to 25mm sparse. Fosdyke is an old style, traditional bear and he's fairly easy to make even for a beginner. The pieces fit together easily, there are no darts and no need to gather pieces in order to make them fit. He's a bear you can make in a comfortable chair while watching TV and suitable for sewing by hand or machine.

The pattern includes all the instructions you need to make your bear with some diagrams for the more difficult parts. The pattern is on 4 x A4 sheets and is full sized.

You'll need a 1/4 metre of mohair paw pad material, 9.5mm or 10mm shoe buttons and one 45mm (for the head) and 4 x 35mm joints. We use plastic pellets in the feet, hands, ankles, wrists and tummy to make him a little saggier and cuddly.

If you need any of the items necessary to make your bear, mohair, wool felt, eyes, sewing thread, strong button thread, bear making tools, polyester stuffing or glass beads, please contact us and we can supply what you need, you'll just need to pay for them separately.

This bear pattern was used on the BBC2 programme 'The Great British Sewing Bee' broadcast on 15th December 2013. We also used this design to make a bear for The Titanic Museum in Belfast...it's lying on a bed in the mock-up of a third class cabin.

Please note that the completed bear is not a toy and is unsuitable for children under the age of 14, it is a collector's bear.

Cezanne is an absolutely exquisite bear - his beautifully colored mohair is breathtaking, not to mention his gorgeous eyes and nose - I couldn't be happier with him! As with all of Barbara-Ann's bears, he has an endearing personality and great charm.

Additional policies

We love to receive custom orders, sometimes people ask us for things we've never considered, a could be a combination of colours or something really off the wall, we made a moose for a greeting card company a long time ago and even a 'lady of the night' bear, a 4 foot tall bear we had to take to a lingerie shop to be fitted. Just don't ask to break somebody's copyright, no Harry Potter bears, no Paddingtons, Yogis...
If you have a shop and want to stock our bears please contact us, we'll be glad to help you.

FAQs

Yes please, get in touch!
Yes, we love them, we ask for a 50% deposit and once we have started making your item this becomes non-refundable, the balance is paid on completion. Have a long think about exactly you would like us to make and then contact us, we'd love to hear from you.
Do not wash the bears! You can clean them using a dry cloth, brush or duster, just don't get them wet. Moth prevention sachets are a good idea to protect all your fabric items.
This isn't really our strong point, but if it isn't yours either or if opening the parcel is going to be a big surprise we'll have go, we can put bears inside gift bags and we're always happy to include a special card for a special occasion, just let us know.
