Travel back to the 1980's with this Commodore 64C converted to work as a fully functional USB keyboard.

Inside I have a controller board running my custom software which transforms the Commodore 64's keyboard into a USB keyboard. This will work anywhere a normal USB keyboard would, most laptop and desktop PCs, some tablets, the Raspberry Pi etc.. No software is required to run on the PC end, just plug in and go. Note, there is sufficient space inside to install a Raspberry Pi if you are so inclined. Contact me if interested in an integrated Raspberry Pi and USB hub or USB joystick ports for original Commodore 64 Joysticks.

This is the later Commodore 64C style case, with the cream keyboard. The keyboard contains most of the keys and symbols you need day to day use, some of them are just in different places. Keyboard mapping can be tricky, so by default, the keyboard controller sends appropriate signals to the PC to match whatever is printed on the keycaps (which may not be in the same position as a modern keyboard, the symbols above the numbers for example). This is the easiest, 'plug in and go' option.

Optionally, I can fit a push button on the rear of the case which changes mode to one where the keys work so they press the right keys for the VICE Commodore 64 emulator. See http://blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2014/08/commodore-64-usb-keyboard-with-mode.html for more details

Alternatively, you can choose to have the keys mapped however you like for a small surcharge, just click the 'Request a custom order' link above and tell me what you want the keys to do!

I repair and refurbish a lot of classic 1980's computers, but every now and then, I get ones that cannot be repaired. This is a way of giving them a new life. I only make these from dead computers, no working computers were harmed in the making of these keyboards!

Please note, the original units are 25-30 years old, so there may be the odd mark or scratch, but nothing too bad.

Other computers are listed in my shop, and I hope to list more in the future, please contact me for further information or requests.
