Description

This beautiful and contemporary porcelain vessel has been slip-cast and uniquely manipulated by hand. The edge detail has been glazed in layers to produce an intense contrasting glaze feature.

Exhibited at Bovey Tracey, Contemporary Craft Festival, June 2015.

Measurements - 5.6" x 5.1" / 14.3cm x 12.9cm

Part of my 'Beautiful Demolition' collection.

* Inspiration *

My work explores the tactile and aesthetic qualities of clay, using the material aspects of clay to deliver an idealised or non idealised forms. The pieces consist of various experiments showing the effects that tobacco has on clay, specifically how they can be used to manipulate and transform porcelain. In this particular series I am interested in how outwardly damaging substances can create a contrasted response to an object. Promoting a dematerialisation of the object as a defining factor, while retaining a sense intrigue and physicality within the object.
