Description

This tutorial shows how to create the 'Hedgehog & Hoglet with Pips!' brooch using Oval Luna Soft Cabochons. The design was created for the Friendly Beaders - facebook group - Autumn Challenge, October 2015.

Materials required include for 25 by 18 mm (Hedgehog) and 18.5 by 13.5 mm (Hoglet) Oval Luna Soft Cabochons. These can easily be substituted for gemstone, glass or lucite cabochons with brown tones - as common sizes selected. The design uses 22-30 brown toned Pip beads, coordinating seed beads in sizes 11 and 15 (2g each), 2mm pearls or drop beads (2), 3mm firepolish bead (1), beading foundation, ultrasuede, brooch finding, glue, KO thread and size 10-12 beading needle.

Tutorial provides a nice introduction to using bead embroidery to create an innovative cute hedgehog design. Design uses back stitch, peyote stitch and brick stitch. It is considered to be an intermediate project.

The Luna Soft Cabachons were purchased from

Beading foundation was purchased from
