I am delighted to introduce a selection of highly collectable vintage Ladybird books to Get Smitten as I acquired an entire collection on a recent fabric and prop buying hunt!

The Ladybird books are an ubiquitous part of British childhood history. Since the 1940s, children have been learning from and with these well loved and beautifully illustrated hardback books, covering a multitude of subjects and themes. They have become highly sought after in recent years - particularly the 1970s versions

This listing is for a 1973, 2nd edition, matt hard back cover Ladybird book, from the How It Works series, entitled The Telephone, by David Carey with illustrations by B. H. Robinson

It is from the Series 654 collection, ISBN number 0721403093 with the printed price 15p on the reverse, first published in 1972

It is in excellent condition throughout but has Xmas 1977 handwritten in small text on the inside cover

"This book explains n simple terms how our telephone systems work and how we can make the best use of them. It also gives many interesting facts about the world-wide telephone service which through submarine cables, radio links and satellites enables us to speak with people many thousands of miles away.
The author wishes to thank the Post Office for their kind help in providing the information on which this book is based."

What is a fat quarter, I hear you cry?! It is a term widely used in the patchwork and crafting world that denotes a quarter of a meter of fabric. In order to give a more useful area to work with, they take a meter of fabric and quarter it by length and width so that you have a 'fat' quarter rather than a long one

They are 18 x 22" or 45 x 55cm
If you require pieces of vintage fabric larger than a fat quarter, please message me with you requirements. I have enough in stock I am happy to oblige.

My fabrics are pre-loved sheeting and so are not available by the meter or yard as with traditional fabrics - please let me know your desired size and will measure the amount I have left in stock

If you purchase multiples of one fabric, I will always try to provide it as one cut piece wherever possible. I will message you before dispatching your order if this is not possible
