Executive Functioning Task - Vacation Planning & Budgeting Worksheet

Hi!

I am a speech language pathologist with 14+ years of experience. This is a task I created because I was having difficulty finding higher level treatments for executive dysfunction (higher level though organization, problem solving, insight, planning).

This task simulates planning a vacation including picking a flight/planning a road trip, a hotel and researching local attractions. The first step of the task is setting a budget. At the end the client will calculate the total cost and see if they stayed within that budget. This task typically takes 20-30 minutes depending on the client.

I included two different versions:

Version 1: Planning a vacation using a flight

Version 2: Planning a vacation using a road trip (due to popular demand a lot of my students said they preferred road trips with their families)

There are tips to read at the beginning and reflection questions to discuss at the end. This is an important step because it helps build insight, which is a key component of executive functioning.
