Description

This is a knitting pattern for a pair of fingerless mitts, with a fair isle border round the upper wrist. The pattern offers two variations for the thumb opening - vertical gap (where a few rows are worked back and forth) and horizontal - button-hole style thumb opening. Options given for rolled or ribbed edgings.

One size - to accommodate hand circumference of 7 - 7.5 inches (18 - 19 cm)

The pattern calls for small amounts of fingering weight yarns in two main shades and 4 contrast colours. The pattern is suitable for knitters who are comfortable knitting stranded colourwork or fair isle in the round.

You will need approximately 20 - 30g each for two main colours and between 3 - 13 yards of 4 contrast colours - suggested yarns are J C Rennie Supersoft Lambswool or Cashmere blend and Rowan Fine Tweed,
(Yarn substitutes - Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift, Knitpicks Palette)

You will also need circular needles or double pointed needles for knitting small circumferences in the round. Suggest needle size 2.5mm and 3mm.
