Description

I made this incredibly intricate Chainmaille shirt from raw wire, one link at a time, by hand.

For this one, I thought it would be cool to make a real Chainmaille shirt that looked and wore as much like a regular crew neck t-shirt as possible. The way this turned out is awesome!

I made this shirt starting with raw 18 gauge Stainless Steel wire. First I made the links by wrapping the wire around a steel rod, then I cut each link by hand. Once I have my links made, I assemble them one link at a time, all by hand, using two pairs of pliers and sixteen years of joyous experience.

This shirt took me roughly 250 hours to make, it has somewhere near 35,000 individual links, and it weighs around 16 pounds.

This shirt has all the details. The edges are made to look like the hems on a normal fabric shirt by stepping up the wire thickness, for these parts I used thinker 16 gauge Stainless Steel wire. And to make the sleeves hang correctly, and comfortably move with your arms, I used a technique called Bias Stitching which allowed me to creat this Chainmaille shirt with the same style pattern one would use when sewing a fabric shirt. Long story short, it's perfect!

I have this shirt in stock in a men's medium size. If you order a different size than that I'll be adjusting the one I have to the size that you order so that you'll have it at your door step in your size as quickly as possible.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this shirt or if you have a custom Chainmaille piece in mind that we can work on together.

Thanks!
