I published this graphic novel in 2016 after a successful Kickstarter campaign to crowd fund it!

Drawn by hand using good old fashioned pencils and pens, an army of brushes and buckets of black ink, Grimace & Grin has been in the making for the past three years. Drawing on themes of sibling rivalry, love and loyalty within the twisted dynamics of an evil 'family', this 90 page graphic novel introduces a world from which all colour has been drained. A tongue in cheek homage to the world of fantasy, How to Make a Minion draws inspiration from everything to Gormenghast and Frankenstein to Lord of the Rings and D&D.

When summoned to assist his creator in collecting the ingredients needed to hatch a new homunculus Grimace senses his impending redundancy. Our unfortunate protagonist throws himself from frying pan to fire as he attempts to subvert the indomitable grip of his Master's will.

The tale introduces a ream of eccentric characters: from the Master's malevolent and cunning cat to Grimace's noble steed, the castle goat, to the down-and-out gargoyles who observe Grimace's adventures from above. In a sequence of disturbing and bizarre adventures, Grimace takes on everything from giant earth worms to fire breathing chickens in his devoted attempts to serve his Master.

Full of macabre humour and high-adventure, Grimace & Grin is a wild and whimsical fantasy which explores the grey space between good and evil.
