When I first started crocheting and came across traditional Irish Crochet Lace, I fell in love with its intricacy. This rose is a traditional Irish Crochet design, but with my own wee twist - I use different shades of colour in each layer, to recreate the natural beauty of wildflowers and different colours you see in them when they catch the sun.

I have hand crocheted this rose in 100% Egyptian cotton, high quality cordonnet thread. It has been gently stretched and set with a wee bit of fabric stiffener, so it holds its shape perfectly. It is backed with soft acrylic felt.

This rose uses 3 different threads in shades of dark red and burgundy. The centre cabochon is garnet, as are the drop beads.

The rose itself measures approximately 1.5" in diameter. The drop beads add another 0.75" to the length of the pendant.

The chain is also hand crocheted in cotton thread and features smaller garnet beads. The chain is 16" long and fastens with a high quality sterling silver lobster clasp; it also features a 2" adjuster chain for optional longer length.

Matching earrings are also available if you would like a complete set. The earrings are also handmade by me, and feature beads of garnet and carnelian, on sterling silver ear wires. Please select the "pendant and earrings" option when you make your purchase.

About the gemstone: Garnet derives its name from the Latin “granatum”, meaning pomegranate – the stone being thought to resemble the red seeds of the pomegranate. Garnet has historically been used as a symbol of love. It is a birth stone for January.

Your pendant (with or without earrings) will be sent out in a silver gift box, with a wee card inside telling you about the properties of the gemstone.
