HEATHBOLD BAGS
We use only the highest grade of full grain leather for our luxury bags.
Full grain leather is the outermost surface of the hide, where all the lines, markings and scars are found. We don't sand down or burn away these markings, because the grain is what gives our bags character.
Full grain leather makes our bags unique and distinctive. No two of our bags are identical. Every one of them is beautiful.
And not only is full grain leather amazing to look at. It possesses all of the properties a luxury bag needs: it's water proof, yet it can breathe, meaning the interior of our bags don't become 'musty' over time. It's thin, soft, and lightweight, yet stronger and better able to keep its shape than any synthetic or plastic.
And because it has been subjected to a minimum of surface treatment, and it hasn't been varnished or painted, our full grain leather bags mellow and improve with age. Our leather surfaces won't split or peel, and with a little bit of love and care, your bag will give you a lifetime of use.
LASER ENGRAVING OPTION
To make your Heathbold bag even more special, why not add your initials, or you name, your life motto, or even a message to your loved one if you're buying as a gift. Our professional laser engraving option enables you to add whatever message you want to your bag (subject to space) as neat script or a monogram. This will be discreetly engraved on the lower area of the rear panel of your bag (using MV Boli, approx 14pt). If you want us to place your engraving on a different part of your bag, or if you want to choose your own font, please give us your instructions when you place your order and we will be happy to oblige.
This service is for one monogram or one line of script only. Additional monograms or lines on multiple areas of your bag can be purchased separately. Our standard font is 14pt MV Boli, as this uses nice professional characters and produces a lovely clear crisp monogram on our oiled and textured leather. We're happy to discuss non-standard engraved customisations, including logos and bespoke designs, but we cannot engrave any registered trade marks.

OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
We take our responsibility to the environment very seriously. That's why we only use renewable and biodegradable skins, which are a by-product of the meat industry. In fact hides and skins etc would present a considerable land fill problem if they were not turned into leather. All of our suppliers are vetted for the ethical treatment of their animals and labour forces. Our cartons are made from recycled materials, and we don't over-package, which means you don't have loads of rubbish to throw away after you've received your purchase. We know we can do more to protect the environment, and this is a subject we constantly think about. Any feedback our customers might have on this subject will always be gratefully received.
A NOTE ABOUT LEATHER OILS.
Heathbold bags are designed to be used every day. Sometimes, especially when your bag is new, the elements (such as high humidity, rain or hot sunshine) can soften the surface oils and cause staining to your hands, clothing, carpets etc. We ask our customers to keep this oil migration risk in mind, especially if you're wearing light coloured clothing. While these stains can be stubborn, they will usually wash away if attended to quickly. This oil migration process, which happens with all high quality oiled leather luggage, isn't a fault. It's only temporary, and after a period of regular use these surface oils will permanently stabilise.
