Description

The hexagon seems to be everywhere at the moment, from beautiful wooden shelving, to amazing kitchen tiles and of course gorgeous textile designs, so why not join in the hexy fun and create your very own patchwork Hexagon cushion.

We're all being told to relax more and escape the mad frantic world we now live in, and what better way than to relax into a favourite sofa and enjoy some meditative hand sewing. Many of us have tried the traditional technique of English paper-piecing and ended up with a half-finished kingsize bed quilt, now hiding up in the loft somewhere... you'll be glad to know this hand sewing technique has now been brought right up to date thanks to the amazing glue pen, making it so much quicker than in the past, but still as enjoyable.

So why not try this craft with a smaller project, one which you may actually finish! My full colour instructions take you through the process of basting then sewing your hexies together, sewing them down onto the border, then I give ideas on how to quilt your handmade cushion top.

To make this 17" cushion you will need;
• Two 2½” x WOF strips in Fabric A
• Four 2½” x WOF strips in Fabric B which will also be the binding
• Four 2½” x WOF strips in Fabric C which is also be the border
• Eighty 1” paper hexagons (available pre-cut at sewmotion.com)
• A Sewline Glue Pen for basting your hexagons (also available at sewmotion.com)
• 20” square of wadding.
• 50cm of fabric for backing your cushion and an 18” cushion pad.
