Description

Knitted Baby Sleeping Bag Pattern - Baby Cocoon Pattern - Hooded Cable Wrap - Snuggle Wrap Pattern - Swaddling Pattern - Instant Download

This knitted hooded swaddling sack pattern was inspired by one of customers who is due to have her baby very soon and wanted something to keep her little one warm and snuggly. We looked a variety of patterns but they weren't quite right so I set out to make my own.

This pattern is aimed at intermediary skilled knitters who will need to be comfortable with cabling, picking up stitches, and making button holes - instructions are given throughout also. The front of the pattern has three braided cables for decoration and the back has one on each side which leaves the back smooth for better comfort for baby.

It is recommended that you use a medium weight yarn which naturally has some stretch or give. When making up the sleeping bag with these yarns you will have a nice stretch in the garment which will potentially last baby a little longer depending on their growth rate. I personally use Aran weight acrylic yarn but any medium weight will work just fine.

This pattern will fit a little one with a height of approximately 25 - 27" and internal width of 13-14“ with a little room for movement, extra blankets or cuddly toys.

As this is the pattern only for this piece if you are looking for a ready made item then please view my other baby listings where you can find it:

Pattern FAQ:
🧶 I can’t seem to get the ribbing even on the front flap, what do I do?
- In long hand the ribbing pattern would be:
- row 1: *k3, p3* 12 times (72 stitches) + k3 at the end of the row
- row 2: *p3, k3* 12 times + p3 at the end of the row
- Then repeat rows 1-2 for 10cm.
🧶 What is a 3 needle bind off?
- The three needle bind off is a casting off method that also joins the two bits of the hood together without sewing (once you have divided your stitches on to two needles). Here is a great YouTube video that shows you how to do it:

If you prefer you can cast off all your stitches and the sew the hood together, it will give you a similar effect 😊. Be sure to match up the two cable ends as your guide when sewing so it is symmetrical.
