Enter Name of Church you would like to have on the Fid or other caption. Please bear in mind that space for a label is limited. By way of example; St. Margaret would be good but St. Margaret's Church, Drayton would be too long.

A fid is a small hardwood tool to aid in the lengthening or shortening of the tail end of a bellringing rope.
The fid is 7 inches long in total with a 2 inch round ball at one end which fits nicely in the hand to apply pressure on the rope. The spike section is 5 inches long which is short enough to give good control of the tool without slipping and causing injury yet making a large splicing hole in the rope easy. One side has a flat section where the name of a church can be labeled. A parachord loop is fitted around the neck allowing the fid to be stored on any spare hook in the ringing chamber or tower.
All the Fids are of hardwood and should last a lifetime. The wood used for each Fid varies and is mostly seasoned beech but could be apple or cherry or other random hardwood.
I leave a fid at each new tower I ring at as a gift from me as I have found many ringing towers lack one. Obviously I will never be able to get to every tower so here is your chance to obtain one for your bellringing tower.

The fid arrived promptly. It was well packed and is a high quality item, smooth and comfortable to hold. Before dispatch, the friendly seller asked what name to put on the label and provided several spares. A very pleasant shopping experience!
