- 100% linen
- 2 ply
- Approximately 110 yards (100 metres) per reel
- Each unit = 1 reel of thread and 1 block of beeswax
Documentary evidence and examination of surviving 16th century garments shows that this was the type of thread used for the majority of sewing by Tudor tailors. It was spun from 100% linen (flax) and was left unbleached and un-dyed regardless of the colour or type of fabric it was stitched through. To strengthen the thread, and make it easier to sew with, each length was first drawn over a piece of beeswax. Our wax is sourced locally from bees living in the grounds of Wollaton Hall near Nottingham, UK. We helpfully include a block of locally sourced pure beeswax with every reel!

The thread is a little too thick for use in a sewing machine, but perfect for hand-sewing, which is what I bought it for. The beeswax is in an adorable bee patt. It arrived faster than expected.
I love the thread it sews very nicely and it feels very sturdy, it is rather thick though but I don't really have a problem with that but definitely something to keep in mind,(as a bonus though it looks incredibly aesthetic) I will definitely buy this again 😊
This thread is amazing as always. It is my go to thread for all hand sewing.
It's as it appears in the picture, it took a little while but it came in excellent, with my beeswax and a nice postcard. I am very satisfied with my purchase. Thanks a lot
