Everlasting Cakes is a painted cake cookbook. The creator is an artist and a baker. She wanted to make a print edition celebrating the cakes in her life. Paintings rather than photograhs are used. A unique creation of 52 cakes and images.

Artists Introduction:
These Everlasting Cake recipes grew out of my love for baking and a passion for image making. Here are cakes, biscuits, pies and sweetmeats collected over a number of years from all over the world. All of them have been tried and tested, and some have a history or anecdote attached which you may find entertaining. Above all, this is an occupational therapy book of fun stuff to do in the kitchen - a tactile experience of mushing together a variety of ingredients using a proven scientific formula, creating something enjoyable and impressive to eat (selfishly alone, or to share with loved ones)!
I know there is a move to be healthier and eat more carrot sticks, however life demands that there must also be some fun and enjoyment and the glories of cake creation provide a perfect opportunity to indulge. I advise that only the best ingredients are used - avoid horror E numbers, colourants and supermarket bicarb aftertaste preservatives. Indulge in a moderate way, try one cake per week or just whenever you feel like something sweet and special to dip into. Beating up a cake can be good in so many ways, and eating and sharing simply prolongs this pleasure. Revel in the alchemy that takes place in the kitchen!
These are no fuss recipes and as for any mess, in the words of a dear friend who lives on the opposite side of the world, “licking the bowl is good for the soul.”
It is not my intention to intimidate anyone with glossy photographs of glycerine-laden foods, but rather to present a different perspective on fabulous food making – a serving suggestion rather than a prescription on how your creation may look and taste.
