This image was initially developed and inspired by The Algerian Tassili mushroom cave painting from 6,000-9,000 BC, the image stands 8 feet tall in a cave. However it was not until I had it drawn and first painted, did I realise it would not fit into Albion or the Ancestors Awakening body of artwork. However I changed the image into a man with the Journey painting headdress, from Star Carr in the Yorkshire landscape dating to around 9000 BC. This along with the Fly Agaric, Liberty Caps, Wavy Cap mushrooms and petroglyphs transforms my painting into a Shaman from Albion.

A shaman is often an individual regarded as having access to and influence in the world of light and dark, abilities of insight, to transmute, journey and shape-shift are just a few of their powers.
Being those who journey from one world to another with intuition, symbolism, dance, drums, psychedelics and conscious thought, brought to manifest within this reality we are within now. The word "shaman" is thought to have originated from North Asia. Russia or the Arctic Sami people according mainstream academics. The interpretation of a ‘Shaman was introduced after Russian forces conquered the shamanistic Khanate of Kazan in 1552.
However it is my belief or knowing via research that Shamanism was once a worldwide phenomenon of direct spiritual awareness and awakening to the self as a healer, magician, artist, philosopher, teacher or a whole host of attributes to evolve, help others and to shape reality.
The title Shaman fits with witches, druids, wise ones, hedge walkers, the Tuatha Dé Danann, the mythology Fae and I reckon so many more magical beings and tribal archetypes.
With this painting I personally reclaim the path and word Shaman, as a practice of how I live my life and escape the prescribed mundane script that has been fed to me and many since birth, also I am seeking wisdom.

I think we are living in a time of transformation and revelations, many now sense the illusion of democracy and free will. So are consciously reclaiming their path and their own identity. Shamanism and Paganism is growing fast, because neither are prescribed religions, but they are both paths of direct revelation....

Such a striking design and the colours are wonderful. I love contemplating our ancestors when I drink from it too. We have sis of these mugs in different designs and love them all. The mugs are a good size and, unlike many mugs, have nice big handles that don't hurt your fingers. Wonderful. Thank you.

VERY well packaged for it's long trip across the pond. Absolutely beautiful, the pictures do not do the artwork justice, this Awen is stunning. It makes my little druid heart sing <3

Just lovely. I have the shamanic bee print too and the reproduction quality of the image on this mug is excellent. The only downside is that it causes bickering between me and my husband over who will use it each day! The mugs are lovely too; a good size and the handles are comfortably large. Thank you.
