Rokjesdag is the Dutch name for Skirt day. It’s the first day of spring when all the women and girls are suddenly wearing a skirt with bare legs underneath. A great and beautiful day according to Martin Bril. Bril was a famous Dutch writer and columnist, who made the definition “rokjesdag” really popular in the Netherlands. Because of Bril the definition “rokjesdag” is nowadays well-established in the Netherlands.

The author, poet and columnist who died in 2009 will be honored on the anniversary of his death with a special “rokjesdag”. This event consists of among others a skirt party, a skirt exhibition and a skirt design contest. The collection “rokjesdag” will also be published. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rokjesdag)

Rokjesdag is the perfect day to wear this skirt. Jolly, beautiful weather, a lot of flowers, many dots, much pink. What more shall I say?

This skirt is made of 6 panels, so it has 6 seams. The skirt also incorporates a white, supple and stretchable lining. On the lining is a pink edge with white dots. Elastic is processed in the waist band which ensures that it will not expand and widen and the skirt stays in its proper place nicely.

The skirt is very comfortable to wear because of its elasticity.

This beret exceeded my expectations. It is beautifully crafted and the design is really flattering to wear. The photo on the site does not do it justice--I was delighted to see that the alternating colors create a lovely spiral design on the crown. The lightweight yarn is warm enough for all but the most bitterly cold days, but comfortable to wear indoors. Complete strangers stop me to compliment me on this hat!
