I have really enjoyed working on this book. Over the past ten years, I have spent many hours in my studio, producing numerous collections of one-of-a-kind dolls. These dolls are usually immediately packed away in large suitcases to travel with me to yet another exhibition. Many of my creations have found their way to museums, galleries and collectors, and were therefore on display for the public for only a short time.
Because of this, I thought it would be a good idea to make a selection from the photos I have of the dolls I have made, and to make this into a book. I hope that these examples will serve to inspire the creativity of beginning and more experienced dollmakers. I have also provided a short explanation of modeling, painting and costuming techniques for dolls made out of stone clay (Darwi brand). This clay air dries quickly and therefore anyone can use it, as no kiln is needed.

I truly hope that you will enjoy all of the photos in the book, and that they will be a source of inspiration to anyone involved in the wonderful art of doll making ~ Ankie Daanen, NIADA Artist

PRINTING TIPS:

Patterns pages are made to print on 8 1/2" X 11" paper. When you print, make certain that your printer options are set for "print at actual size" or that the scaling command is "none." This will insure that the pattern does not get rescaled or distorted.
