‘Betwixt and Between’ is 13th image of the ‘Ancestors’ Awakening exhibition finished the night before taking to the framers.
The prehistoric symbolism and liminal vision of this ancient monument represents time and the present merging. It seems abundantly clear to me that our ancient ancestors were very advanced, shamanic, magical and naturally intelligent. With a strong connection to the elements of land, air, fire and water, I imagine in a way that balanced them. Today many have experienced a divorce from nature and monuments such of these along with ancient symbols call to many to leave their box and expand their connection with so much more.
These paintings evolve without sketches or planning, firs an idea a sense of place and a journey starts me off. I do a lot of painting in silence and sometimes listen to talks and philosophy. It may seem strange but it is as if these painting come from deep within, to make the visible to an audience, so that they can interpret the images with their own perspective or feeling. For sure there is a theme, journeys, archetypes and a setting scene within each image. However the aim is to nurture a myth, legend or story within the viewer.
‘Betwixt and Between’ is a liminal view of Stonehenge at present and the day the first stone arrived on site. Nearby a tribe of crafts people and artisans, not in the image, are sat around the fire at 3am in the morning contemplating the future and the reason for building. This illuminates part of the henge as the daylight is arriving and the night is leaving. The badger and archetype of the hermit, is there to witness the cultivation and harvest of medicine from the earth that this megalithic creation will bring forth. There is much more to this painting, but am I am sure many will find the story from within...

It was a difficult job choosing which print I wanted as they are all so beautiful ! Delighted with Betwixt and Between, just love it, and I'll be back for the Bee print at some point plus a set of cards. Thank you so much Peter.
Beautiful picture I love Peters work. Never disappointed with his creations 🤩
stunning picture. Another to add to the collection.
Just lovely. I have the shamanic bee print too and the reproduction quality of the image on this mug is excellent. The only downside is that it causes bickering between me and my husband over who will use it each day! The mugs are lovely too; a good size and the handles are comfortably large. Thank you.
