Materials

GOTS organic cotton flannel, french terry, kam snap

Dimensions

Pad length: 6 in

An Organic cotton pantyliner. At just 6" in length it is small thin and discreet.
Both top and bottom of this pad is made using organic cotton flannel, with a french terry core. It is designed to be worn in place of disposable pantyliners, for your daily freshness and comfort. Many more women are making the switch to natural cloth pads.

One reusable cloth pantyliner like this one will replace 100s of disposables, saving you money over the life of the pad, and stopping so much plastic and other waste heading into landfill.
The listing is for one organic cotton pantyliner, handmade in the UK using GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) certified organic cotton.

“What’s so special about organic cotton, vs. regular cotton?”
Unlike in traditional cotton farming, organic cotton crops aren't treated with pesticides, insecticides, herbicides or (GMO) Genetically Modified Organisms. The chemicals used in traditional cotton farming are harmful to the health of the farmers, consumers and the local ecosystem. Organic cotton also uses far less water to grow than non-organic cotton.
Choosing an organic cotton item over a non-organic one may seem minor, but the impact is huge.

These liners are zero waste and chemical free, with a natural fabric next to a very sensitive area of your body, and they can be worn with either side against your skin. Better for your health and well being and better for the environment than the disposables they replace.
There is no PUL (polyurethane laminate) waterproofing layer in them, as they are designed to deal with a normal everyday light discharge or spotting.

Comfort has got to be one of the best reasons for the switch. Cloth pads are soft and absorbent and don't contain any chemicals, which means they are better for you, and the environment.
Women have reported having lighter and less painful periods since using cloth, and with no rash or irritation.
They can be made to your choice of size and absorbency, you can decide which core materials are used and what fabric you prefer next to your skin.
Your skin absorbs whatever is put on it, think about face creams, body lotions or stop smoking patches, the harmful chemicals that go into the making of disposable sanitary towels are against a most sensitive area of your body.
It's worth giving cloth a try, to see for yourself.
Cloth sanitary pads (CSP) are snapped around the gusset of your close fitting underwear with a kam snap fastener.
This is what holds them in place.
The soft pretty side is worn next to your skin, we use patterned cottons or jersey, and organic fabrics like bamboo velour, which is hand dyed, and our undyed or bare organics.
The core or inner layers are manufactured by Wazoodle Fabrics in the USA. They specialise in absorbent and organic materials. How many layers will depend on what level of absorbency you need.
The backer is a water resistant layer of specialist fleece, or in liners it's corduroy, which is also to helps keep the pad from sliding around in the underwear.
These are all designed to be soft comfortable and fully reusable.
By using the best quality absorbent fabrics available we hope to eliminate any problems with leaking.
Making sure you're in the right absorbency of pad helps too.
All of our pads have indicator tags sewn into them with between one and four drops on. A heavy pad will easily absorb a light flow, but a light drop pad will not cope well with a heavy flow.
We can all get caught out by an unexpectedly heavy period, and even disposables leak when that happens.
As with everything, once it is saturated it will leak.
However, the beauty of cloth pads is that you don't have to keep a pad on to feel like you're getting your moneys worth.
Change the pad whenever you begin to feel uncomfortable.
Wash the pad, dry it and its ready to reuse again.
After using your CSP rinse off any blood in cold water, not hot as that will set the stain. Wash as normal on a 30° or 40° wash load.
NEVER use any fabric softener with cloth pads. Softener is designed to smooth out fibres, and this makes liquids run off, and makes them less absorbent.
I find that soap nuts are the best washing product for pads as they are totally natural and don't contain any chemicals.
Pads can be tumble dried on a low heat cycle, but they are best line dried in the fresh air, sun and wind. The sun helps to naturally fade out any stubborn stains. Solar and wind power are free, so saving you money.
So rinse in cold water, wash in machine or by hand, no softener and line dry.
