Oval platter with scalloped petal edges, from the popular Petal Ware range by Grindley pottery. The yellow colour is known as Laburnum. This serving dish was probably made in the 1950s.

This kind of plain coloured tableware is often called 'utility china'. It is both hardwearing and pretty, and dishwasher proof!

W H Grindley was an English pottery from Stoke-on-Trent from 1880 to 1991. Their Petal Ware range comes in several different colours - yellow, blue, pink and green. These coloured clays were introduced the 1920s and were popular for decades.
