I Rose Went Forth and Followed Thee Prayer Cross

Prayer Crosses, are inspired by passages from the Bible. I have used the words to collage these designs and then created these printed wooden crosses. They make great gifts for weddings, confirmations, christenings, baptisms, and for relatives and friends. They can be used as a focus when praying together as well as displayed on the wall of your home, office or workplace.

These beautiful oak veneer crosses have a hook on the back which means they can be easily hung on the wall. The crosses measure 20cm tall, 12.5cm across and 1.2cm thick.

Background.

The inspiration for these crosses came after I made a large painting of a cross floating on the lakes near my home town of Irthlingborough in Northamptonshire. To commemorate my own baptism I made a large painting using prayers, poems and passages from the Bible which were collaged together to make the artwork.

The painting called 'Baptism' shows a cross I made floating on the water of a lake in the Nene valley. Each blade of grass and ripple on the water is made using the selected words to show the presence of God in every detail of the world.

After making the painting, I gave workshops at my church and the Greenbelt festival where we made small cross designs using words. This eventually led to the creation of these 'Prayer Crosses'.

Very pretty. Unfortunately, during transit some of the colour came off the centre of the cross. It is being hung high up so it won't be noticeable. It had been packed very well so just bad luck. Full refund/ replacement offered. This was very kind but there is no need. What great customer service!
