Dreads are usable for 2-3 months. Basically it depends on how fast your natural hair grow. The dreads are unbraided painlessly and can be used more than one time. Your hair will be fine.
You may go to the beach or swimming. Use your regular shampoo with water. Dry with a fan at the distance or without a fan at all. You don’t need to worry too much about washing the dreads because they are made of synthetic fiber and don’t really attract oil and dust.

Massage your scalp regularly. Using your fingertips, gently massage your own scalp to increase the blood flow to your skin. Increased blood flow will lead to healthier skin and less itch over time. Do this as often as you can.
Also make sure you're shampooing your scalp thoroughly with a residue free shampoo. You should look for a shampoo that removes residues and doesn’t leave any of it’s own residues behind. The shampoo should have no scents, because scents left in the hair are residues.
Jojoba oil mixed with tea tree and peppermint can help relieve itching. For a lighter dose of moisture, rub pure aloe vera gel onto the scalp. It helps balance the pH of your hair and scalp.
You can also use anti-itch spray.

Single ended dreads, also known as SE dreads, is a single dread with a loop on one end.
When it comes to installing them into your hair, you take the small section of your own hair, pull it through the loop and braid down.
Double ended dreads, also know as DE dreads, are basically 2 dreads in one. It is one dread but with two ends. When installing them you fold the dread in half and braid your own hair down the one side of the dread.
