Vintage from the 1970s

Pottery, Stamped to base, Glossy drip glaze, Matt Grey, Red glaze

Height: 18.5 Centimetres; Width: 10 Centimetres

A fab 'fat lava' era vase by Carstens Tönnieshof, West Germany...

It has a matte grey base, with a great vivid red (loosely mixed with black) liquid drip glaze painted over a wax resist or stenciled series of lines. The pattern is a series of random vertical and horizontal grey lines with the red and black glossy infills. The upper part of the vase is matte black and it's glossy dark brown/black inside. Terracotta coloured clay base. Circa 1960s or 1970s vintage.

Stamped on base with '63/18' and 'W-Germany'. Shape no 63, and the 18 denotes 18cm tall (it's 18.5cm x 10cm wide max). It may be part of the Ankara series of resist patterned decors, but I can't find another like this.

A mid sized vase, would hold about a dozen stems. Perfect for a mid-century inspired room and would look amazing on a teak sideboard or statement shelving unit with other red accessories. It's in good condition - the matte grey is susceptible to marks and this has a few white marks around the top grey stripe, see pics (these may come off). Otherwise really good with no chips.

Price includes P&P to the UK.

This seller usually responds within a few hours.

Items weighing under 2kg total will be posted by 2nd class Royal Mail. If it's a high value item I'll add Signed For. Items weighing over 2kg will be posted by Hermes, and if they are high value I'll add Signed For. I may not be able to post to some areas of the UK, such as the Channel Islands, but I'll give it a good go! I'll try to post within 24 hours (when Post Office opening hours allow).
All postage abroad will be by Royal Mail's International Tracked and Signed service, so will need signing for your end. Please say if you'd prefer just a Tracked service instead. I can't post anything that weighs over 2kg or is larger than a 'small parcel'.
I have specially chosen these items to be of superior quality and condition for their age and era. All my items are vintage (25+ years old) and may naturally have some wear and tear which may not be in the description. I have written everything to the best of my ability, and tried to describe any obvious flaws. The photos also help to show the condition - please view all photos and read the descriptions.
For lower value items I'm happy for you to provide the address and unique code for a UK onward mailing company, but I cannot accept responsibility for any damage or non-delivery beyond the mailing company's address. Once the UK mailing company has safely received the parcel it is no longer my responsibility.
Why buy new? Buy vintage, and help protect the planet. You're rescuing vintage pieces for future generations. Also, please don't bin my packaging - save, re-use and recycle. Thank you.
I use large bubble bubble-wrap with strengthening card and sturdy cardboard boxes. I often double box for safety and I re-use old newspapers to fill any gaps. I have been selling on Etsy for over five years and know and trust my packing. Jewellery is posted in small sturdy cardboard jewellery boxes, in a mailing bag. (Please re-use or recycle any packaging!)
UK free postage is factored into all my prices... I think UK customers like to see an upfront price including postage with no hidden surprises. Sorry I can't offer free post worldwide.
