Though designed, carved and painted to teach appreciation of art and beauty and open a child’s imagination, the toy is still more realistic than any other wooden toy hedgehog on the market, conveying the distinct shape, color and pattern of its natural counterpart.

CONVENIENCE

Hedgehog is bigger than a chestnut, but it easily fits into a child’s hand and pocket, so this hand and heart warming wooden toy can be taken wherever a child goes as a beloved companion that keeps them fascinated and engaged in long meaningful play away from screens.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Do not soak in water. Wash each toy separately with soapy water with some vinegar. Rinse as quickly as possible. Immediately dry with a towel. Let air dry.
For disinfection you can use rubbing alcohol. We recommend spiritus aethylicus for medical purposes.
Do not put on or near heaters. Do not keep under direct sunshine for too long. Moisture and heat can cause warping and cracking in wood, so wooden products should not be exposed to these for too long.
When toys feel too dry, they need to be oiled and / or waxed. We recommend linseed oil and beeswax waxes. Other oils and waxes could be used too: mineral oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil. Vegans can use carnauba wax instead of beeswax.

ETHICS

This handmade wooden toy was designed and produced in Bulgaria by our team of two friends. We are happy and grateful for the opportunity to do worthwhile work to earn our living, and we would be even happier to be able to provide the same opportunity to other people who would otherwise live in poverty or leave our small community for a bigger city or a foreign country. We use safe paint and oil, and our wood comes from sustainably managed forests. We do our best to avoid waste by using materials sparingly. By buying this eco friendly toy and committing to keep it well-maintained so that it could be passed on for generations, you are not only preserving nature but also supporting an honest small business.
