♡ A story and colouring book for animal-loving children exploring a vegetarian, vegan, plant-based diet ♡

Celandine is a little girl who loves all animals, but she has some questions about why loving animals sometimes seems confusing. The story sees her explore these questions and leads to her wanting to eat ‘nothing from animals’.

A perfect companion for any children exploring their feelings about eating animals or vegetarian/vegan parents explaining their lifestyle choice, this gentle rhyming story is aimed at roughly 0-8 years and told over 12 A5 pages that are B&W and ready for colouring. I hope it will engage children to consider animals and food.

Illustrated by my dear friend, Joana Soares, the front and back covers are in colour, with inside pages B&W

Wow! Alice went above and beyond expectations I typically have for a seller. Not to mention, this book is so cute and will be a great gift for my niece. Super great for any kid who has already made the decision to go veggie, or if they are even just starting to grapple with their relationship with meat products. Thank you Alice for using your talent to make this book!! (Btw on shipping— for any USA’ers worried, I live on the west coast and mine arrived earlier than expected 🙂)

I loved Alice Griffin's poetry collection, Poems For Animals, so was keen to also read these short stories, The Times We Had. The book comprises nine short and flash fiction stories, each beginning with a fun scene-setting illustration by Joana Soares. I was surprised by just how closely I found myself connecting with two tales in particular, Quiet Space and The Walk. The idea of being drawn towards the quiet spaces little-used paths - alleyways and towpaths for example - really resonated. In my Sussex childhood, such alleys were called twittens and I often took their routes to avoid the High Street noise and chaos. Although I felt like the odd one out back then, it's reassuring to now realise that I wasn't!

Excellent transaction with easy download and great communication from seller. I am glad to be able to offer a little support to a good cause while also getting to enjoy some inspired and thoughtful poetry. I loved meeting the adorable duck community in Monsieur Robert and It Started With An Art reminded me strongly of an event in my own childhood. Griffin's work has a strong message encouraging readers to think about their attitudes to all animals. She doesn't hector, however, but uses her poems to present familiar scenarios that resonated with me, twisting the viewpoint to elicit an emotional response and then to illustrate the more humane resolution. If I weren't already vegan, I would certainly have been giving a lot of thought to becoming so as a result of this work.
