Description

A striking and unusual vintage necklace pendant which doubles up as a brooch. The large versatile oval shape (with both hanging loop and slim brooch pin) is handmade in Sweden, and of a freeform organic welded nature, with drips and drops and veins and ridges and pimples.

There are two sets of hallmarks. Reading the larger Swedish hallmarks, they look to read: V8 [the date stamp or maker's mark], S [silver], [then the three towers logo for Sweden], [then the maker's city of origin which I can't make out], then the maker's name or date stamp of EE or HE or something similar - see photos, I've not been able to decipher it. The second set of smaller hallmarks are import marks and read [cross within a circle - import], 925 [sterling silver], then another mark and 'G11 ID' or similar. So, it appears to be made in Sweden and imported to Britain. Please let me know if you translate the marks any differently or can identify the maker/artist or re-seller. I wish I knew the exact story and origins, and the age!

The silver pendant brooch is a large but slim concave disc. Modernist and Scandinavian in style (see photos). I'll include the 925 sterling silver snake/box chain that's pictured here, so you can wear it as a statement necklace. It's apx 19" long.

Apx 58 x 43mm - a good size. Slim long pin to reverse works well. Large hanging hook for a chain with hallmarks on both sides (see photos). A beautiful and curious artist-made piece of fine jewellery, with unusual origins and a story behind it to translate. Swedish silver can be a lesser quality to British - it feels quite lightweight at 18g. Excellent shiny condition, silver colour, very wearable... Quite a statement!
