A reproduction print of my painting of a stag beetle is now available for purchase, featuring a natural history style illustration of the Britain’s largest beetle, Lucanus Cervus, the Stag beetle. Frightening to look at but totally harmless, these endangered insects are also known as thunder beetles because of their tendency to fly during stormy weather (or perhaps bring it). They were very abundant where I used to live, and this is a painting of a guy I rescued from a strimmer. Holding one of these glorious insects is said to protect you from lightning strike, but you might prefer to have one hanging on your wall instead.

Original is available for sale.

Open edition.

Process:
The original was painted using FW artists inks, and has been professionally digitally reproduced.

Materials:
Printed on a beautiful 100% cotton, 300gsm acid free archival fine art inkjet paper with a satin finish.

Available to purchase as an unmounted print, or fully framed in a white wooden frame (please see final photo). These frames are a spacious 280x340mm, with 2cm x 2cm white subtle wood textured moulding made by framishly in the U.K. There is a white mount with an A5 opening.

The frames are fronted with clear styrene, and have an MDF backing board kept in with flexipins. They each come ready to hang.

Size: A5 print size is 148 x 210 mm (5.8 x 8.3 inches).
