Caledonia Sweater

**DIGITAL PATTERN**

Caledonia gets its name from the old Roman word for Scotland. The Argyle cabled diamond and twisted stitch pattern with the textured pattern conjures up the spirit of the Scotland highlands. The modern shape of the jumper creates a garment that will look at home in the wild highlands as well as in the trendy city.

About Caledonia: slightly cropped jumper with set in sleeves; knitted in DK weight yarn; worked flat in pieces: back, front and two sleeves (from the ribbed bottom edging up). Neckband is picked up from the neck cast-off edge and knitted in the round. Lower part of the garment and sleeves has an Argyle diamond pattern constructed from a cable and twisted stitch pattern against a background of reverse stocking stitch; the upper parts have a textured moss stitch pattern. The cable pattern can be worked from a chart or from written instructions as you prefer.

Sweater is intended to be worn with 5-10 cm/2-4” positive ease. The model (bust size 81 cm/32”) is wearing the size 3 garment.

Yarn: The Fibre Company Lore (DK; 250 m/273 yds per 100g hank; 100% Lambswool)

Gauge: 18 sts x 29 rows = 10 cm/4” measured over double moss stitch pattern
24 st cable pattern = 11.1 cm/4½“

Needles
4 mm/US 6 knitting needles or size to give the right gauge (larger needles)
3.75 mm/US 5 knitting needles AND circular needle, 80 cm/32” length or size to give the right gauge.
Needle one size up from the larger needles for the cable pattern on sleeve only.
