I have found it to be much better than the commercial plastic kits available thanks to the use of the output transformer and the use of an aerial input coupling coil. All the earphones are tested.
This is the Bill Of Materials:
* 3 Amp terminal strip
* LT44 transformer L2
* variable capacitor VC1
* 2 M2.5 4mm screws
* 3 M2.5 20mm screws
* 3 M2.5 nuts
* 5 M2.5 washers
* BAT48 schottky diode D1
* 470pF ceramic disc capacitor C1
* ceramic / crystal earpiece Y1
* 30SWG / 0.315mm enammeled copper wire 4m
* 1m yellow aerial connection wire
* 1m green earth connection wire
* 1 yellow insulated crocodile clip
* 1 green insulated crocodile clip
* control knob for short shaft
* 50mm long, 9.5mm diameter ferrite rod
* 100mm single core red hookup wire
* 100mm single core black hookup wire
All the build information is provided online so that easy updates can be added. There is no paper documentation supplied.
The particular thing that I like about my kit versus so many others, is that if you live in a flat and can't put up a decent long-wire aerial, you can always go on a walk and attach this portable version to two wires on a farm fence to get a signal.
There was a problem calculating your postage. Please try again.

quality very good, back in time. I was 12 years old now I am 82 , wonderful that it is still for sale. toppie toppie growth se
The connectors do not work well with multiple wires. The smaller gauge wires tend to pull out easily. I had to solder the wires together to make it work. Once that was solved it works well. I was able the receive our two local stations with only a short antenna.
Thankyou for the review. Soldering will always make a better connection than any other method when you have the skill and tools to do it.
Really great product so much fun to put together we love it
I'm delighted that you got on well with the kit. Thankyou for the review.
My eight year old nephew was so excited to receive this as a birthday gift. Great little kit, packed well, with easy to follow instructions available on the web (I appreciate the lack of paper instruction book for environmental reasons). Looking forward to seeing how he gets on with building his radio.
Thanks for the 5*s. I hope it works well.
