Egg Farmer is an easy to learn and fun game, with strategic choices to make between collecting eggs and spending them for farm defences. This push-your-luck card game is for 2-6 players (suitable for aged 7+) and takes approx. 20 minutes per game. The pack contains 96 cards and an instruction sheet.
A GREAT GIFT FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY
Egg Farmer is suitably placed in the board game category for all ages, providing a fun activity for all the family. It is because of this that it provides an exciting choice of gift for kids birthdays or Christmas. Many customers have commented on how good it is for their 10-year-old daughter or 7-year-old son. The game comes in a small pocket-sized box which fits all the playing cards which makes it an ideal adult or kids stocking filler at Christmas. If you're looking for a farming themed gift idea then this also may take your fancy.
THE AIM OF THE GAME
The aim of the game is to collect as many eggs as you can in your ‘basket pile’; avoiding being attacked by foxes or infested by rats. The person with the most eggs at the end of the game will win. If you have no chickens and cannot pay for another one, then you are out of the game.
HOW TO PLAY
Players take turns drawing cards from the main 'egg deck'.
At the beginning of a player's turn, there is a chance to bank eggs in the safe 'basket pile', as well as spend them on farm defences.
Players must balance collecting eggs with staying in the game longer which can be done by purchasing defences from the 'farm deck' with some of the eggs.
EGG DECK AND FARM DECK EXPLAINED
- The Egg Deck - This is the main pile players pick up from and contains a mixture of varying egg (points) cards and foxes. There are 2 types of foxes. Hungry Foxes take your chickens and are more dangerous at knocking you out of the game. Thieving Foxes steal your eggs in hand, which slow you down and put you in a vulnerable position to further foxes. Rabbits and rats also appear in the 'egg deck'. A Rabbit is a free bonus defence card that can be used to lure foxes to an opponent's farm. A rat will cause you to miss a turn, and if multiple rats are picked up in one turn, then 1 chicken dies.
- The Farm Deck - This pile includes a Locked Shed that completely protects your farm for that go when it is played, a Fox Trap, a Hound that scares foxes back to the pile and additional Chickens that help you collect eggs faster - giving you more "lives" but also increasing the likelihood of picking up foxes.

Some of our customers who’ve bought and played this have said:
“Great game and lots of fun to play … my kids have really taken to this! Beautiful art and a nicely crafted game!” (Guy, Kickstarter Backer)
“Received and it was a hit at family game night! Thank you for an excellent game!” (Jennifer, Kickstarter Backer)
“This is an excellent little game. I love the simple but unique mechanics and yet how thinky this can get without ever being really heavy. I play it with everyone, gamers or non-gamers and just about everyone is fascinated and enjoys. You have to watch your opponents to balance that always tricky aspect of when to save eggs and when to buy good cards with them. Always a joy to bring to the table.” (BGG user)
“I’ve backed a lot of games, and to date this is almost certainly the one we’ve played the most. It’s so easy to teach, and the art is one of my favorites. Game play is great. They packed a lot into a small game. There is always the tension between spending eggs for protection and saving them to the fridge as we call it. The best mechanic is the draw per chicken rule. Having extra chickens is great, especially early on, but later you just can’t keep them alive. I like how you have to watch your opponents and adapt to what they are doing. Games and strategy can be very different depending on how protectively your opponents are. Very well done. It was obviously well play tested because it is very well balanced. The only slight negative is that sometimes you get a fox right away and go out almost right away.” (James, Kickstarter Backer)
