Brutal Beasts is our new combination-series of film & image releases, which looks at the Audi S1 E2 (1985). Laid bare here in its prototype primer-grey, and set within a dystopian hellscape, the E2 was one of the most powerful and recognisable Group B cars ever made.

The ‘Group B’ rally series of the 1980’s defined a motorsport era unlike any other. So raw, so compelling and so dangerous, it was ultimately banned. At the lawless apex of design innovation and unregulated power output, manufacturers were free to unleash their automotive monstrosities, their ‘Brutal Beasts’ upon the sport, creating legendary vehicles, victories and tragedies.
