Instead of counting out rows and columns, use this grid spacing ruler to divide your journal spreads into halves, thirds and quarters.
I never enjoy setting up a grid spacing cheat sheet, or flicking back to it every time I set up a spread. With this ruler, you can get going with your spread instantly.

Useful for being able to set up quick and easy weekly journal spreads. Most A5 spreads need to be split into halves, quarters or thirds, so this ruler can be used for any of your personal spreads.

Suitable for A5 journals like Archer and Olive and Maisie Lane, which have 38 spaces vertically and 26 spaces horizontally (spaces between dots).

Instructions:

FOR ROWS
1) Line up the arrow at the top of the ruler, with the dot at the top of the page (so the ruler is vertical on the page)
2) Use a pencil to mark off the relevant number of rows you want to create (2, 3 or 4 per A5 page)
3) Draw lines across to create your rows

FOR COLUMNS
1) Line up the arrow with the first dot on the left hand side of the page
2) Use a pencil to mark off the relevant number of columns (2, 3, or 4)
3) Draw column lines

NOTE: an A5 dot grid journal doesn't divide equally into thirds and quarters, there will be 2 extra spaces. You have the flexibility to choose where you would like to place them (e.g. at the bottom, at the top for a header or inbetween).

I haven't actually used it yet for a permanent layout in my bujo, but just watching the YouTube video and doing little practice layouts has me very excited about making layouts with this sturdy and easy to use "ruler." This is by far better quality and easier to use than a previous purchase from another seller, who essentially sold me a ruler made from paper, which is easily ruined. I love this sturdy little ruler. It quickly and easily divides the page and makes my layouts look so much more orderly and less chaotic. And it's pretty too. Can a ruler be elegant? This one can, because it's a beautiful shimmery grey. My father instilled a love of quality tools in me, and this definitely fits the bill. My bullet journal helped save my sanity during this pandemic, and I've been indulging in a little self care by "feeding" it fun things like washi tape, tracing cards, stencils, tools. This is what I love best about Etsy -- I can get in some self care and support a small business at the same time. I love all the smart ideas Raksha shares with us through her store and her Youtube channel, and I can't wait to see what she does next.

This is a great tool. It did not come with instructions, so I watched a couple of her YouTube videos on how to use it. But it works great to make a quick layout! I even create my own custom layout with this quickly and easily!!
