Cheryl was an artist from the beginning. She surprised her family by creating art from found objects as a child. She grew up in Vermont and moved to Colorado in 1978 where she was inspired and encouraged by many talented folks in the small mountain community of Ward . She worked in ever changing media including calligraphy, beads, rocks, shell and even feathers. She became a silversmith in 1986 working with many jewelers and taking classes along the way. She put down the torch in 2009 and chose to move on to a healthier way of making jewelry when she discovered the ancient art of wire wrapping and sculpting jewelry in 2010. Wire wrapping is one of the oldest techniques for making jewelry by hand. In wire wrapping, jewelry is made using wire to make components. Wire components are then connected to one another using mechanical techniques with no soldering or heating of the wire. She now makes wearable art from copper, sterling silver and gold-filled wire with natural gemstones, pearls, shell, glass and fossils.
