Hi Everybody, my name is Rowan and I'm a blacksmith.
Although I live in Wales, my Smithy is in Rural Shropshire, where I have taken on the lease of a disused canal forge, which has recently been restored with care by the Canal and River Trust. The Forge was built in 1805 by Thomas Telford as part of the canal infrastructure, but had been empty for 30 years before I took it over at the start of September 2013.
I began forging as a bladesmith, before moving on to blacksmithing. After three years of forging in my spare time, I applied to the National School of Blacksmithing in Hereford, where due to my previous experience, I was put straight through to the second year of the technical course.
