Katie Wallis' Profile

About

Welcome to my shop! I am a Multi disciplinary textile designer, printer and maker. I have worked in interiors for 15 years, painting murals and faux wall finishes for clients in the UK and abroad. My current work and products explore geometry, colour and transformation through pattern within nature.
I am inspired by the likes of William Morris and William Burges to design and create beautiful, hand crafted, symbolic and ecologically inspired objects for the home.
My lampshades, cushions, mirrors and gift items employ a variety of skilled techniques like digital and screen print, (including heat transfer process like flocking) and laser cutting. I only use natural, sustainable and organic fabrics to print my designs .

I have been concentrating on making patterns and motifs inspired by bees since I read about colony collapse syndrome in order to share and highlight how amazing and important these little pollinators are. They are a constant source of inspiration.
More recently I have been making pieces inspired by bats, another important pollenator, I am particularly interested in portraying ideas related to echolocation, which is how bats locate their prey.
I have recently been working in collaboration with an upholsterer to create one off pieces of furniture using my bespoke designs.
Most of my digitally printed fabrics can be adjusted to suit specific colour ranges and products can be specially made to order. Please message me with your enquires and commissions.
