I am enthuisiastic about my craft

Hello my name is Ann-Marie
I am enthusiastic about my craft, and get my inspiration from nature. My creative journey started around 2001 when I started an Embroidery class. I work in an adult education college and took the opportunity of popping into embroidery lessons during my lunch break and, taking some weekend classes. Embroidery was the first class I studied and I enjoyed learning new stitches, dyeing fabric, Sewing, and fabric manipulation.

After 3 years taking embroidery classes, I then took a Mosaic Taster weekend course which I absolutely fell in love with. I was able to work with scraps of stained glass, pebbles, broken ceramics, tiles, recycled objects etc. The possibilities are endless, I was intrigued at the idea of using these broken objects and turning them into amazing unique one off pieces such as vases and other home decor.

I immediately enrolled myself onto longer 12 weeks Stained Glass and Mosaic Course around 2005. I learnt glass cutting, Lead Work (used in stained glass windows.) Copper foiling (used in Tiffany Style Lamps) and soldering.
I experimented a lot with wire coils and swirls within my stained glass work. This then lead me to learning Wire wrapping and Silversmiths working with precious metals and gemstones. Jewellery making was a natural transition for me allowing me to now combine the 2 mediums.

I am passionate about my work and find it ever so relaxing and therapeutic when I am creating. I now teach a Wire Work Jewellery evening class at the same college I myself learnt these amazing skills that have changed my life.

I am filled with joy and pride seeing what my students are creating and seeing the joy and happiness they also get from being creative.

I love nature and get inspiration all the time looking at our beautiful planet. Thank you for taking the time to look at my shop and hope you like my work as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
