Adventure Accessories - Gifts for Outdoors
Hi, I am Sarah, I opened my Etsy shop in 2017 and then re-branded to create Adventure Accessories in 2018, based in Carmarthenshire, South Wales. Where I combine a passion for adventure with a love of crafts to make fun functional unique handcrafted gifts for outdoor enthusiasts.
I have been crafting for many years, first with cross-stitch embroidery, then my hand-sewn notebook journals and taught myself to crochet in 2013.
I took voluntary redundancy in 2016 to care full time for my youngest son when he was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive cancer aged 14. My crafts were and still are part of my therapy after I had a breakdown in 2017. I created my small business as an opportunity to work flexibly around my son's care needs and ongoing treatment since he relapsed in September 2017.
I have been adventuring since I was a child, from an active and creative family. Alongside adventures with Guides, Duke of Edinburgh and Scouting comes a love of craft making. As a parent and multiple dog owner when adventuring I wanted gloves to keep my hands warm but had to keep removing them to get an item from the backpack or to hold on to the dog lead so I decided to crochet my own fingerless mitts for people who want practical yet beautiful adventure accessories. I soon added ear warmer headbands, beanie hats, cowl scarves and lap blankets to the range.
I have used the harrowing effects of my son's cancer treatment and my own breakdown to create something positive and I hope to inspire others that may be on a similar path to use the creative craft process to bring some joy to dark days and the power of reconnecting with nature to balance your mental health and wellbeing for whatever life throws your way.
After all, life is an adventure. 🧭
My handmade items include:
Handsewn Traveller’s Notebooks
Paracord macrame bracelets and dog collars.

and a range of handmade accessories. 💗

I created Adventure Accessories in 2018 when I took redundancy to care for my son as he receives ongoing cancer treatment. What began as a hobby to help my mental health, has grown to become a successful creative handmade business.

Loki, Mojo & Neo
Assistant
My pawsome pals keep me company as I craft. Loki the GSD is head of security. Neo the Beagle is a general cleaner and will eat my scraps if he had the chance. Mojo the JRT is quality control. He would love to snuggle in on all my yarn if I let him.

Frequently asked questions
What Materials Do You Use?
I use a variety of materials and enjoy experimenting with different media.
*Faux Leather
*Cork Fabric
*Eco Label approved Paper
*Cotton Thread
*Costume Beads
*Type II 425 Paracord
What is Paracord?
Paracord is short for parachute cord. A lightweight nylon rope used in the suspension lines of parachutes. Now used as a general utility cord both by military personnel and civilians. Popular with bushcraft and wild camping enthusiasts. Woven into braided bracelets for either a fashion accessory or as an easy way of carrying when adventuring, they are designed to be unravelled and used when needed. Also made into strong hard-wearing dog collars for your adventure companions.
Paracord Dog Collars
Paracord Dog Collars - It is a requirement that all dogs wear a collar with an ID tag attached when out in public in the UK. We would recommend when adventuring with dogs that your dog wears a suitable harness for attaching the lead to, rather than using the collar, as this is more comfortable for your dog, allowing them to enjoy their adventures with you.
Does Paracord shrink when wet?
Paracord can shrink a little when wet, but it also has a natural tendency to stretch a little too, so you can always re-shape your bracelet or dog's collar as it dries to be sure it continues to fit.
Is your packaging eco-friendly?
I am conscious of using recyclable and sustainable packaging for my products.
*The packing boxes are made from recycled cardboard and are recyclable.
*I also try to re-use boxes that I receive through the post myself, so occasionally you may see some slight wear and tear to your packaging but I am sure you will understand this in no way affects the quality of your carefully wrapped items inside.
*The tissue paper is non-bleached and also recyclable.
*I also use shredded card packing that is reused from items I have received in the post.
I do not charge you for packing costs and I include shipping at cost into the price of the item.
Can I request a custom order?
I welcome custom order requests. I love to work with you to achieve your perfect gift.
*You can choose your lining for the Traveller Notebooks and paper insert combination of plain, lined or mixed paper.
* Your choice of thread colour combinations for any of the Adventure Cord bracelets.
*Sizes, colour combinations or weave ideas for paracord bracelets.
If you have an idea for something else send me a message and we will work together.
