About AmiraHasoonStudio
‘The job of the artist is to observe reality of nature, and not reinvent it in the studio’ - John Ruskin

My practice draws from inspiration from my environment and everyday surroundings. Born in Oxford, England I am constantly surrounded by the architectural beauty of my home city. Oxford is economically, culturally, and socially motivating, every return home reignites my passion for Oxford’s wealth of alluring architecture and character - there are always new elements to observe in the familiar and rediscover again.
Observing and drawing on location, standing amongst the pedestrian and road traffic, or perched between branches in a forest. My drawings are mostly composed through direct observation, as the essential depths and elements are hidden by the flatness of a photograph.

I like to describe my style as ‘Invisible Lines’ - an interpretation of observation. The ‘Invisible Lines’ intentionally lead the viewer through the inclusion of space. This is achieved through the interaction of the viewer reading into the positive and negative spaces in her work, creating the viewer’s unique lines of desire.
