About

Sunshine, light, colour, beauty and life through art.

Originally from the historical port of Whitby, North Yorkshire, Anthony Hodgson is a bit of a polymath. He has, as a painter-poet, been placed in the tradition of William Blake but he has also been writing and singing songs for a lot of his life and has played at numerous gatherings both here and abroad.
He spent most of his working life in teaching and social care before taking up art and currently lives in West Norwood, South London with his wife and two children. As an artist, he is known for his intricate Gothic and Celtic work in ink as well as large scale pastel Symbolist figurative works. He has recently been exhibited at Middlesbrough and Norwich Cathedral as well as several exhibitions with Commission4Mission in the City of London.
As already stated, he also writes and performs poetry and in 2016 had a collection of poetry published, entitled 'Poems and Songs from the Bridge'. Since 2015, Anthony has been delivering what he terms 'Living Art' where he uses spoken word, art, poetry and song to uncover the stories behind his work. Key themes include brokenness, healing and reconciliation.

  • Fryup Press

    Glaisdale, England

Fryup Press is a publishing company created by my Aunty Ann, who has, as well as publishing other people's work, has written several novels herself. She is, like many women from my family and North Yorkshire in general, an independent, creative and inspirational woman.

  • SRA mental health charity

    City of London, England

As someone who has struggled with mental illness over the years, I like to use SRA, a local charity here in South London, to print my cards. SRA works to rehabilitate men who, like me, have struggled with mental illness. Thus, each card bought provides work for the guys this organisation works with.
