Granny joined me at a creative workshop I was running. It was such a joy having her share me journey and support.
Why I Create!
Crochet and being creative are what set my heart on fire, they relax my brain and guide my actions and have done from a very young age. I began crocheting when I was in my late teens, some 15+ years ago and was taught by my textile making Grandmother, Leitha. Granny would always be knitting or sewing and I would be in owe of her creations. She began by teaching me to knit and sew but, at that time, they just weren't for me. She introduced me to crochet and I've not looked back since. Crochet is life!
SHARING IS CARING!
I am passionate about sharing my love for creativity and often run community workshops within my local area. I am driven by sustaining this wonderful craft and sharing my skills with others.
WHY CROCHET?
> Crochet is great therapy and helps to relax the mind
> Crochet builds communities and inspires skill sharing
> Crochet is super portable and can be worked on almost anywhere (Yay!)
> Crochet is fabulous for gift making and bringing joy to others
WHY I DESIGN WHAT I DO!
I am obsessed with fabric construction, form and colour. Being able to take a piece of yarn and turn it into something new is magical. I have tried my hand at all types of crochet stitches and patterns but I am currently excited by colourwork and amigurumi - and if I can create an amigurumi with colourwork in it, then I'm in heaven!
> Crochet Colourwork
I come from a graphic design background and love bold images and text. My crochet colourwork patterns began as a way to combine my love for design, my passion for heritage and my obsession with crochet. The 'Ay Up Duck' cushion was born. From there I have developed a range of wall hangings and homewares.... and have oodles more to share too.
> Amigurumi
Who doesn't love a cute little character! I know I do. I began designing crocheted toys when my children were babies and they have become part of the family. My original amigurumi cat, Oscar Cat, was named by my daughter and is one of my most treasured designs.
I hope you like what you see, if you have any questions about any of my designs my working process or just fancy chatting about crochet then drop me a messing.
Happy Crocheting
