For brides who dare to be different...

Hendy, Wales 1 Sale On Etsy since 2016

Announcement   Hello!

Welcome to Aria Bridal UK!
Aria Bridal UK was created for brides who want something a little bit different. Aria’s aim is to create beautiful, unique and customized wedding dresses made from sustainable materials, with limited impact on the environment. It is also important to ensure these are affordable for all.

Aria was created by designer and part-time textiles teacher Helen O’Sullivan after she made her own wedding dresses for her “barefoot woodland festival” style wedding in the summer of 2016. Each design is created and made by Helen in her home-based studio in South Wales, UK (and sometimes in her back garden)….

Helen has over 13 years of design and technical experience working as a designer, pattern cutter and garment technologist for a range of mainstream/high street and sustainable fashion labels. Previously Helen was a founding member of the Ethical Fashion Forum‘s Fellowship 500, Source Directory and the Fair Wear Foundation. Helen is now a founding member of the Common Objective, putting 10 years of EFF work into practice.

Helen now continues to design for the love of making, not profit and that is why Aria Bridal UK dresses are affordable to all.

Aria specializes in custom made bridal gowns helping brides to create their “dream dress” but also offer a range of ready to wear gowns which can also be customized to individual requirements. Helen uses her vast technical experience to create a wide range of styles from beautifully structured corset fishtail gowns to floaty bohemian styles, and everything in between! Helen also believes all brides should be able to express themselves and be truly unique, therefore offers the option of dip dying designs free of charge and can also create rainbow dyed dresses to really make a statement on your special day.

Designs are available to purchase either here via the Etsy store or directly via email or phone call with Helen herself.

The design process:

• We have an initial consultation to arrange the style of dress you require, this can be in person or via email.
• We then create an Etsy customised order, to be paid before any work commences.
• I create a mood board of potential designs using images you send to me.
• I create a basic block pattern and a toile based on your measurements.
• We arrange a meeting in person for you to try on the toile and finalise a design marking this onto the toile. This can also be posted.
• Your final pattern is produced.
• Your final gown is made.
• You have a fitting to see if any alterations are required.
• The remaining balance is paid 4 weeks before collection of the gown.
• The finished gown is delivered/collected.

About

Aria Bridal UK: For brides, just like me, who dare to be different!

I set up my own sustainable wedding dress label, called Aria Bridal UK, following getting married in 2016 at my unique festival style barefoot woodland wedding, called Wedstock! I couldn't find anything that suited my sustainability ethics, personality or budget, so I decided to make my own gown, as I have a design/technologist background and make most of my clothes anyway! Soon after I realised there are soooooo many other brides out there who do not want the traditional white wedding and like me, dare to be different! And I guess that's why you are reading this!

While I predominantly sell directly to brides via my website and email, this shop will be another means of selling to likeminded brides who want something a different, while respecting the environment. Just as important as the environmental cost, is the financial one and I hope to create unique and beautiful dresses which are affordable to all. Prices range from £300-1,500. I sell ready made items but specialise in customised orders.

I work part-time as a Design & Technology teacher here in South Wales, so am lucky to be able to continue my design work which for the last couple of years has gone on the back burner due to a poor work-life balance. I now continue to design for the love of making, not profit and that is why my dresses are affordable to all.

Prior to this I worked in the dynamic sectors of the fashion industry for over 15 years as a designer, pattern cutter, garment technologist and maker working for fast-fashion giants to small independent sustainable fashion label, I also set up 2 eco fashion labels for leading charities.
