About

Sewing saved my sanity.

In February 2014 I quit my day job. Juggling motherhood with a demanding job with demanding people was taking its toll. I had to walk away. My husband was extremely supportive of my decision, as he saw what it was doing to me.

About 6 months later, with a toddler and a small baby, Hobbycraft opened up near me - and by near, I mean a short walk away! - and with that 3 year and 6 month old trying my patience daily, I decided I needed an outlet for my creativity that I'd put on hold for some time. From then on I was addicted to card making. I got myself a blog set up, I met some friends online and one was local. She sent me some of her duplicate Copic markers and from then on I was addicted even more.

I had a sewing machine I'd bought a couple of years before when my eldest was two with the idea of making some outfits for her. I never found the time. Fast forward to 2016 when I found some YouTube sewing videos and I decided to get my sewing machine out and make something. Something useful. Something small. Something to hold my beloved Copic markers when I took them away to colouring classes. It had been a while since I'd sewn anything and yet I threw myself in at the deep end and tried a zipper bag. I found the brightest and quirkiest fabrics I possibly could and Hey Presto!, the Copic storage bag was born!

I got addicted to fabric and sewing and sent them to friends for their Copics. One day in October 2017, a friend shared hers on a Facebook group, someone asked if I made them and wham! I had 7 orders to fulfill. I decided to open this Etsy shop for my next challenge - and yes, I have always been a fidget - and it's hard work, but so worth it. Like everything, there are ups and downs, learning curves, days when you wonder if it's all worthwhile, and moments when you want to throw it all in. I've met some amazingly supportive people online in various crafty groups and they all encourage me to keep going and give it a try. It's definitely not in the same league as my previous job, and I'm going to stick it out and give it my all.

It is certainly not easy juggling it all around looking after children, snatching 15 minutes here and there, but it is worth it to see the things that you have made and put love and effort into be loved by other people. It puts my previous experience into perspective and makes me realise how lucky I am.

I love finding fabrics, I love making bags, I hope you will love them too! Thanks for reading. Happy shopping :) xx

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

Yes I take custom orders. Just hit that custom button and we can have a chat about fabrics and sizes.

Sizing details

All bag sizes are listed in my product details in both inches and centimetres. If you would like something larger, please consider a custom order.

Care instructions

As everything is cotton, you can pop all my bags in the washing machine at 40oC. Handwashing is however recommended to preserve some of the brighter fabrics.

I wash all my fabric before sewing, but please be careful with very dark colours especially blue as they naturally contain a lot of dye, which can sometimes transfer onto lighter colours.

If you have a decorative charm, please remove it before washing.
