Welcome to the Barbara-Ann Bears Etsy shop, we hope you love the bears.
We are Barbara and Andy Cunningham and we have been making teddy bears as Barbara-Ann Bears since November 1990. We started off making very traditional bears but have since drifted off into a world of whimsical and colourful characters, usually made from hand dyed mohair and with ridiculous, large colourful noses. We like to make people smile, so we hope you smile too.
Our bears have appeared on TV, we made Marigold's bear and George's horse hand puppet for Downton Abbey, and our Fosdyke teddy pattern was used by Anne Rowley in the BBC's 'The Great British Sewing Bee Christmas Special'. Our bears are in several teddy bear museums around the world as well as making special bears for displays in The Titanic Museum in Belfast...it's always a great thrill and honour being asked to do this type of work.
Our bears are made in a smoke free home, they are adult collectables and not toys they are not suitable for children under 14 years old.

5 out of 5 starsI love all of Barbara Ann’s patterns! If you’re new to bear making, you’ll probably learn a lot. Barbara includes plenty of pictures and details for trickier parts, such as stuffing the snout and embroidering the nose. You can’t go wrong with this adorable traditional bear pattern.

I'm the one that writes on Etsy, I'm also the one that you might find on a deserted beach in the middle of winter taking photos of teddy bears...I love it! I draw and design, sew the noses and stuff and put the bears together.

Payment
We know sometimes catastrophes strike so we can be a bit flexible if you have a problem, we get a thrill in seeing our bears go to new homes, so when there's a good reason we try to be helpful, but when people let us down we get pretty deflated, so please be genuine and certain.
Delivery
We use Royal Mail International Signed For or International Tracked and Signed (when available) for international customers, there's also compensation for lost packages.
Customs,Import fees, local taxes etc. are the responsibility of the buyer.
Contact your local Post Office to find out the import rules and charges for your country.
We cannot list items as "gifts" or undervalue items as this is illegal, it amounts to smuggling and tax evasion.
We usually send out our orders on the day they are received, otherwise the following working day. If you are buying more than one item (great!!!) we will be flexible with the shipping costs, ask us.

Custom and personalised orders
Yes, we love them, we ask for a 50% deposit and once we have started making your item this becomes non-refundable, the balance is paid on completion. Have a long think about exactly you would like us to make and then contact us, we'd love to hear from you.
Care instructions
Do not wash the bears! You can clean them using a dry cloth, brush or duster, just don't get them wet. Moth prevention sachets are a good idea to protect all your fabric items.
Gift wrapping and packaging
This isn't really our strong point, but if it isn't yours either or if opening the parcel is going to be a big surprise we'll have go, we can put bears inside gift bags and we're always happy to include a special card for a special occasion, just let us know.
