About Beadflowers

My beadwork journey started after I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

I started beading because I was looking for something to do to give my life back some purpose after it had been turned upside down when I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I taught myself how to bead and found the activity very therapeutic. I had a background in craft and have always been very creative so I immediately started designing my own beadwork. I gave gifts to friends and family and they encouraged my to try taking my beadwork to a wider audience.

I entered some beading competitions and kept reaching the finals or winning. I was soon invited to submit some of my designs for publication in magazines. I started up my own website (www.beadflowers.co.uk) and began selling my work. When I had the energy, I took the odd stall at local craft fairs and I have been selling some of my work through gift shops and galleries in the UK over the years. I have now published 8 beading books, a series of mini-books that stem from the My World of Beads website, and I have plans for some more titles. So, life is pretty exciting at the moment.

From July 2014 to August 2017 I also worked freelance as the editor of 'Bead and Jewellery Magazine', which publishes eight issues per year and is available worldwide. In 2016 I became a Guest Designer with Jewellery Maker TV.

The Chronic Fatigue Syndrome continues to dictate what I can do, but I have learnt a lot more about the illness, become better at managing it and have come to look on it as a blessing - without it I would probably never have found beadwork and this shop wouldn't be here today!

My philosophy is all about sharing my love of beading. I create designs that reflect my own sense of fun and which I hope others will enjoy. The tutorials on here are all downloadable PDF files. I take great care to try and write patterns in a way that is really clear, with written steps and plenty of diagrams or photos to illustrate thread paths. All my patterns are backed up with free technique guides that you can find on my website, www.beadflowers.co.uk. I also really enjoy interacting with the people who buy my work, so if you have any questions, please message me and I will be very happy to help.

I live near London in the UK. I began beading shortly after being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and I think the beads have been my salvation, providing therapy and fun! I design and make everything on here and work alone.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

I am very happy to make customised or personalised orders for you. As these are made specially, they cannot be returned or exchanged. If you would like to place a custom order, then please message me to discuss your requirements. If it is something simple like a product in a different colour, this will be the same price as advertised. If you want more complex alterations, or even a completely brand new design, I will price up the cost of doing this and let you know before the order is placed.

Sizing details

For finished jewellery, I try to give sizing in the description. If you would like a different size, this may be possible, so please message me with your request and I will let you know how I can help.

Tutorials for you to make can of course be re-sized by you as you go. I appreciate that it can be difficult to perceive the size of an item from a photo, so if you want more information, I am always happy to help. Just send me a private message.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All my finished jewellery is packaged in jewellery boxes. Beading kits are sold in my professional packaging, designed to minimise shipping costs.

I ship items in special coloured padded envelopes, so if you're receiving something from me, you're going to feel as though you have just received a gift that I hope will make you feel a bit pampered and a bit special!

Wholesale availability

If you are interested in wholesale prices for the books that I sell, then please send me a private message.

I do not sell finished jewellery wholesale as my brand is all about the personal, hand-crafted touch. The items that I make use top quality materials and take me many, many hours. They are sold as works of art, so they are never going to be mass-produced.

I am not able to sell beading tutorials at wholesale price, but I do operate an affiliates scheme on my website, so if you are interested in finding out more about this, please message me.

Copyright for Beading Tutorials

I have a clear copyright policy for all my beading tutorials. They are protected by UK copyright law and I will take action against anyone found to be acting against the law.

Any pattern or tutorial purchase on here is for your personal use only. You may not share copies of it with your friends: if your friends like the tutorial, then please be kind enough to direct them to my shop where they can purchase their own copy.

You may not sell these tutorials to anyone.

Thank you for respecting the law and my income: it takes me many days to create a design and write the tutorial and my beadwork is my only source of income. I am grateful to everyone who supports me and respects my work.

Teaching from my beading tutorials

You may not teach a workshop or class using my tutorials or projects from my books unless you have written permission from me. I do operate a teaching license, for which anyone can apply. It is a very straightforward process and I will also help to promote any classes or events that are being undertaken with my written permission.

If you would like to find out more, or if you wish to teach a class, then please send me a message and I will be very happy to agree appropriate arrangements with you.

I do take action against people who I find teaching classes illegally, so please respect the law and my work, thank you.

Selling work you have made from my tutorials

I am happy for you to sell any beadwork that you have made using my tutorials - both individual patterns and projects from my books. However, I request that you credit me as the designer of the work. Trying to take credit for the design as well as the manufacture is a breach of UK copyright law and I will take action against anyone I find breaking this law.

If you are unclear, then please check with me first. I am very happy to share my love of beading and will always try to help where I can. Please understand though that this is my only source of income: it requires a high level of skill and takes a lot of time, so please respect that. Thank you.
