A bit of solid oak

I am a fine arts graduate and passionate about good design. Beatnik Framing grew out of a dissatisfaction with manufactured frames and a desire to provide something more durable and elegant. Initially I just wanted some frames for art projects I had in mind but couldn't find exactly what I want, so I had the bright idea of making my own frames. After a lot of learning and some failed attempts, framing somehow took over and became my main passion. I love using solid, beautiful woods such as oak and ash and mainly buy my wood as scraps and offcuts from wood yards and carpenters. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to take materials that would otherwise be left unused (and sometimes burned, criminal!) and turn them into objects of function and beauty.

I also have a range of my own photography and am firmly an analogue man. I love the sense of tradition gained by using old film cameras and developing prints in a traditional darkroom. Whilst I do occasionally use digital, the magic of seeing a print appear from nothing in a developing dish will never fade for me.

Etsy is a new adventure for me in my quest to make a living from being creative. I hope you like what you see!

Additional policies and FAQs
My frames are a hand made item and as such there may be some slight variations from the item pictured. I like to think this is what makes my frames special! No two are the same.
