ABOUT ME:
I’m a printmaker and crafter, working from my pet- and smoke-free home in Surrey.

After working for an environment charity for over 18 years, my career path took a big change in 2017 when I was made redundant. Out of this unsettling period, I embraced the opportunity it gave me: to pursue a lifelong passion in art and craft, while building on my previous career in conservation.

For my lino prints, I take inspiration from the natural world, and from my local area – including patterns, shapes, colours, and the changing seasons. I hope my prints inspire and bring joy, as well as highlighting some of the issues and threats facing the wildlife and the environment.

I produce sewn and crocheted items for you and your home – from Christmas decorations, to re-useable cotton make-up remover pads, to family/individual cutlery rolls for lunchtimes, picnics or camping. I hope these are both beautiful and practical, while reducing single-use items and plastic.

I work to minimise the environmental impact of my art and crafts, by choosing eco-friendly materials (e.g. using Forest Stewardship Certified (FSC) and/or recycled paper; predominantly natural fibres and fabrics; and using minimal plastic packaging - for the latter, I will be switching to biodegradable bags, once my current supply runs out) and upcycling as much as possible.

HOW I MAKE MY LINOCUT PRINTS:
I draw my design onto the lino and then carve it by hand. Using a roller, I apply Caligo Safe Wash Ink to the carved surface. I then lay a piece of printmaking paper over the inked plate, applying pressure by hand and with the back of a spoon. This transfers the inked image onto the paper. The nature of this process means that every print has slight variations, including small ‘rustic’ imperfections, which add to the character of a hand pulled linocut - making each one unique!
