After twenty five years painting on glass for church windows and Victorian front doors, I am now a fine artist glass painter.

It takes ages! To learn, and to do each piece. Worth every laborious moment. I love the vibrant colours of glass and I love painting the beauty of my surroundings onto glass. Spring 2019 I moved to a beautiful cottage in a beautiful village surrounded by beautiful fields. I live in Hunworth in Norfolk in England. I sit in my home painting Norfolk wildlife and scenery onto glass and I fire it in the kiln in my garden shed. Most pieces need at least five firings and take a week. The paint is lead oxides mixed with ground glass. You mix it with vinegar or with oil and it looks like mud or chocolate when it’s on the palette. You start layering on the black paint first to describe the design, outlining and shading, scratching out highlights and daubing on the lowlights. The coloured enamel gets fired onto the reverse, that’s the final firing. To get really vibrant colours I glue pieces of coloured glass on the back. Norfolk is very friendly. Good things happening in my garden at the moment are blue tits, pilates and bulb planting.
